Project Overview

Founded in August 2023, AnSTMicroelectronics is principally engaged in the R&D, production and sales of silicon carbide (SiC) wafers. It was jointly funded by Hunan Sanan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (holding a 51% equity stake) and STMicroelectronics (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (holding a 49% equity stake).

The company has built China’s first mass production line for 8-inch automotive-grade SiC epitaxy and MOSFET power chips. It has evolved into a production base for third-generation compound semiconductor materials featuring independent intellectual property rights, proprietary core technologies, industrial influence and significant international standing. The project also accelerates the formation of a compound semiconductor industrial cluster in Chongqing. Leveraging Sanan Optoelectronics’ accumulated expertise and production management experience in domestic SiC substrate growth, as well as STMicroelectronics’ leading technologies and global brand advantages in international MOSFET power chip sectors, the two industry leaders join forces to deliver sufficient chip supply and technical support for China’s new energy vehicle electronic control systems, industrial power supplies, solar power, aerospace, photovoltaic power generation, high-voltage power transmission and other sectors.
